REDUCE CCTV VIDEO SURVEILLANCE COSTS FOR 1 OR MORE DVRS
– Add days, weeks or months of video retention with StorStac StarterBlock™ for 1 or more DVRs for less than adding fixed, captive DVR storage. Savings of $6,000 MSRP are not unusual for a single DVR-based CCTV system, and savings increase further as more cameras, DVRs, and NVRs are added, or retention periods and video quality requirements increase.
UNMATCHED RELIABILITY AND NON-STOP RECORDING
– Advanced RAID protection with minimal overhead, hot-swap disk drives, and remote replication eliminate lost video and downtime, and reduce support costs. StarterBlock™ installs in minutes with the integrated StorStac Video Storage Administrator™ (VSA) toolset without requiring IT storage expertise. Plus the VSA set-and-forget web administration and email web alerts deliver problem-free, non-stop recording 24x7x365.
BUY LESS STORAGE AND RETAIN MORE VIDEO
– The StarterBlock™ compact platform, just 1.75" (1U) high, is ideal for rack mounting in Security Operations Centers, Command Centers, or even small wiring closets in remote locations or sites. That flexibility makes StarterBlock™ ideal for direct-from-IP-camera recording, or for 1, 2 or more typical DVRs while delivering IP shared storage benefits. Reduce typical video storage needs by 50% or more for multiple DVRs.
SUPPORT BOTH ANALOG AND IP DEVICES
Support existing DVRs, analog cameras, infrastructure, and video management software to protect existing investment without re-cabling. Add NVRs, video management systems, physical security information managers, IP cameras and other IP devices for new capabilities and features including access control, life safety, point of sale, and many others.

StarterBlock™ Overview
Flexible in design, StarterBlock™ is ideal as a Smart CCTV DVR Upgrade. StarterBlock™ is also ideal as a low cost, high performance, dependable all-IP edge recording, retail, bank branch, or remote locations recording platform integrated with NVRs, video management systems, physical security information managers, etc.
- StarterBlock™ can significantly reduce the total amount of capacity required compared with fixed, captive storage found in DVRs and many NVR systems today. This results in further cost savings, since less retention space is required while more video at higher resolution and frame rate is retained and instantly available for playback.
- Hot swap drives and the video surveillance optimized architecture ensure that video is never lost, eliminating the need for whole DVRs or NVRs to be kept on hand for spares in the event of a system failure.
- While RAID protection is available in some midrange and many high end DVRs today, StarterBlock's global sparing capability eliminates the high overhead cost of DVR/NVR storage systems that are RAID equipped. While a DVR might give up one of its two to four disk drives just for RAID, StarterBlock requires fewer drives which means wasted capacity is eliminated.
- With Intransa's advanced RAID protection, low end, mid range and high end DVRs are all protected. This ensures that even if a disk fails, it can be immediately replaced and recording does not halt. Email and web alerts notify the security operator and/or the support organization automatically, in advance of many problems and without losing video.
- StarterBlock also eliminates the disk fragmentation problems of DAS (direct attached storage) and NAS (network attached storage) solutions, common in DVRs and NVRs today.
- Video recorded to one StarterBlock™ can be transmitted to other local or remote Intransa Video Data Management and Retention systems. It can also be viewed online for video analysis, incident review, or long term retention and archiving, and avoiding the need for off-line storage for many situations. This means that huge amounts of retention are not needed at remote sites, retail locations, or bank branches, but instead can be stored-and-forwarded to the Security Operations Center, Command Center or video retention location instead.
